Year 4 Penlee Gallery

On Tuesday 22nd October all of year 4 had the opportunity to visit the Graham Sutherland exhibition at Penlee Gallery in Penzance. The theme of the exhibition was ‘From Darkness to Light, mining, metal and machines’ and the pictures were produced in Geevor tin mine. As they entered the gallery, the pupils were amazed at the large industrial pictures and were encouraged to think of questions about them. The exhibition was further enhanced by Cyril, an ex-Geevor tin miner, who was able to shed light on the children’s questions. The exhibition is open until 23rd November and is free for families on Saturday mornings if you would like to see the it for yourselves! We hope the photos give you a flavour of just what a super time was had by all.

It looks like you all had a lot of fun at Penlee gallery and I love some of the pictures you looked at. Amber told me a lot about it.
