Y3 Sleeping with Sharks

Year 3’s overnight adventure began with a visit to the Eden Project. Everyone was very keen to experience the Cornish rainforest, so after exploring the Mediterranean biome we discovered what it took to become a ‘Rainforest Ranger’. We role-played using machetes to cut a path through the dense understory and balance on rocks to cross dangerous rapids before we made our way into the ‘Amazon’! We experienced first hand how hot the Amazon would be as we looked for potential food, water and shelter. We even found a kapok tree!

Soon we were heading for Plymouth. First stop: Pizza Hut! After filling up with pizza and ice-cream it was finally time for the aquarium! Mae and Tim, our guides for the evening, told us fascinating facts about a wide-range of aquatic creatures. The firm favourites were the sharks, Miss Squishy the jellyfish and Snorkel the rescued turtle. We kept on learning until midnight when we settled down for a film and a midnight feast.
After breakfast the fun continued as we made our way to Plymouth Pavilions for ice-skating. Every single child showed real resilience and by the end of the session could all move across the ice without holding the side, with many trying out small jumps and turns.
