SIJS Goblin Glory

Six pupils from classes 8, 9 and 10 raced the school’s battery powered goblin cars at the Greenpower South West race day event held at Newquay airport.  Despite the weather, the cars competed in three different event types: slalom, a drag race and a wheel to wheel circuit race in true grand prix style.  All six drivers competed with terrific enthusiasm and a high degree of skill.  Brilliantly, for the second year running we returned with ‘silverware’ coming a terrific third (out of more than 60 cars!) in the circuit race.  Huge thanks go to Mr Gilson for his effort and commitment in preparing the cars and a big well done to Alex, Megan, Joe, Grace, Jake and Jordon who represented the school so well.  The photo gallery below will hopefully give you a flavour of the day.

Well done SIJS, another year and another trophy. Keep it up, maybe St Ives Junior could produce the next Lewis Hamilton or Jenson Button.
