Historical Friday

Over the course of this term SIJS will be taking a step back in time each and every Friday afternoon when not a teacher will be in sight, replaced instead by characters from throughout history!

The first  ‘Historical Fun Friday’ was a great success as the children learnt about a wealth of different historical figures, from Pocahontas to Leonardo Da Vinci, via trekking across the extremes of Antarctica to name but three.  Each historical fun Friday pupils will be learning in mixed year groups and will each experience lessons with ten different historical figures helping to understand how the events of the past have shaped our world today.

**Update- Lots more pics from our third Historical Friday are now online.

Historical Friday was really fun. I was with Mrs Lucas and she was Anne Boleyn. We learnt a song- the words were divorced, beheaded, died, divorced, beheaded, survived. It told us that the 6 wives that King Henry VIII had and told us what happened to them!!!!

What a great idea Historical Friday is…Our son comes home full of information about what topic that has been talked about, this is very encouraging as our son loves History, what a great idea and more importantly, he’s even more eager to go to school!!!!! Well done to all concerned.

Mr.Allcock did you get cold legs on historical Friday in your costume? My mum thinks you were very brave wearing that costume in January! It was worth it because it inspired me to research about the Romans and I really enjoyed the learning.

I love Cleopatra because we all had to bow down to her and say “oh! lovely one. Oh! you are the most intelligent one. You are the most beautiful one in the room” and we all had pretend we were her servants.
